Ashing is a sign of our human mortality and our need for repentance. It is a hugely significant time when we come before God in all our frailty.
These days 'Giving something up for Lent' is treated with some mild
amusement. Perhaps it would be good to recapture some of the reverence that
is at the heart of our faith, of the need to come before God with our hearts
in the right place.
PSALM 51:10 "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right
spirit within me."
We are running a Lent Course on Monday evenings in 2018 .
This is a five week study course described as "Stories on the Journey-reading Mark and following Jesus"
start at 19:30
The course at St Andrews starts on Monday 19/02/2018 in the Church. You can
join the course at any of the remaining weeks.
All are welcome, but please let the Vicar know if you are going to come so
that he can find enough tea cups.
